students, are already very flexible? Hypermobility – or laxity in the
connective tissues of the body – can enable us to find deep bends and twists,
but for our yoga practice to be safe and supportive, we need to be very mindful
of how we practice to avoid pain and injury. This workshop will cover:
- The spectrum
of hypermobility and its symptoms

recognize hypermobility in yourself and others

Seasonal Yin Workshops
Embody the energy of the season with an extended Yin practice offered five times throughout the year.
Summer Session: TBA @ Anahata, Harleysville The season of renewal and rebirth, spring invites us to awaken to possibility and the power of our intentions. In this special two-hour Yin workshop, we’ll nourish the liver and gall bladder meridians to encourage the harmonious flow of energy throughout the body. Known as “the general,” liver energy governs growth and development and our inner drive and ambitions. Our practice will help create an overall sense of ease as we let go of anger, cultivate compassion, and move forward confidently to fulfill our dreams. Supporting mudras and mantras will complete our practice.
Yin yoga is a quiet, meditative practice of passive postures held for several minutes to release tension, promote flexibility, and balance the busy-ness of daily life. By appropriately stressing the joints and nourishing the connective tissues of the body, Yin yoga helps increase the body’s natural range of motion and release “stuck” energy. And by cultivating stillness and surrender, Yin strengthens our capacity for awareness, presence, and inner peace.
This workshop is suitable for all levels.
Mudras: Power in Your Hands
Next Session: TBA
We use our hands to touch and feel, to work and play, to express ourselves and interact with the world. Through the art and science of mudras, we can also use our hands to channel energy in our bodies for physical and emotional healing and support. Easy and effective, mudras are powerful and practical, and most can be done anywhere, any time.
In this hands-on (of course!) workshop, you’ll learn how mudras work and practice a variety of mudras to experience shifts in energy. We’ll pay particular attention to mudras that can help manage mood and address specific challenges physical and emotional challenges. Movement, breathing patterns, and mantras can enhance certain mudras and will be included in our practice. You’ll receive handouts but are welcome to bring a journal for notes.
A Primer for Yoga Teachers
Saturday, March 17 :: 1:00-5:00
Yoga can be a powerful healing tool for survivors of trauma. But the very practice of yoga can unintentionally re-traumatize survivors, triggering powerful memories, sensations and emotions.
A trauma-informed approach to teaching can help ensure that all of your students feel safe and experience yoga as an empowering, healing practice. In this workshop, you’ll learn:
- How trauma affects the body
- How yoga can help survivors heal from trauma
- Evidence-based principles of trauma-sensitive teaching
- Concrete, practical ways to integrate trauma-sensitive teaching principles into your classes
You’ll also be guided through a model trauma-sensitive practice and leave with multiple resources to put your knowledge into practice.
Please bring a mat and notebook. Register here.
